ITIL and TOGAF
ITIL and TOGAF are two complementary frameworks | Skillmetrix
ITIL and TOGAF are often seen as two alternative frameworks: nothing could be more wrong!
ITIL focuses on the management of IT services while TOGAF on the creation of 'IT Architecture and can be taken at the same time to' internal organizations.
The confusion between these two frameworks stems from the fact that they, in more recent versions deal with the same topics yes, but the data type from different perspectives.
Starting from 'ITIL Service Lifecycle we can see it in more detail:
1. ITIL Service Strategy: designing, development and maintenance of the service. The same topics are covered by TOGAF in 'ADM and in the preliminary stage;
2. ITIL Service Design: focus on the design of a new service on the changes that must be made eventually theme also described in TOGAF Phase C and D;
3. ITIL Service Transition: planning and control of the process of migrating the IT solution you want. There are correspondences with the relevant phases E, F and G of TOGAF;
4. ITIL Continual Service Improvement: how to implement the cycle of continuous improvement of the service. We can find many similarities with the H phase of TOGAF
Above list was excluded from ITIL Service Operations, since it does not provide information about TOGAF, reflecting the fact that ITIL and TOGAF are mutually complementary, not alternative!
